The Dortmund U
The Dortmund U, which is listed of historic bulidings, was built as the first skyscraper in Dortmund in 1926 and 1927. Nowadays you can visit there an exhibition of art of the 20th and 21th Century, education, research and media art. Originally it was used as fermentation and a warehouse of the Dortmund Union-Brauerei AG and recently as the headquarters of the brewery Brinkhoff. The trademark is located on the roof of the buliding: a gold plated, nine-meter high "U ".
Signal Iduna Park
The Signal Iduna Park built for the Soccer World Cup in 1974, can accommodate up to 80 720 people and is one of the largest stadium in Germany. Many international soccer tournaments have been taken place in the stadium. The most striking and also most conspicuous at the Signal Iduna Park are the yellow steel beams which can be found on the roof. The stadium is also an emblem of Dortmund.
Florianturm
Another landmark of Dortmund is the Florian Tower. The television tower reaches a height of 208.56 meters and was built in 1959. At that time it was with its 219.6 meters the highest building in Germany. With its current height the Floran Tower is the 14th tallest building in Europe.
